Quest to Conquer Gymdom - Part One - Day 2

Sunday night exercise is unheard of in my house, but it did indeed happen!
I have circled all the classes on the timetable that would suit my diary and rocked up all ready for yoga - new outfit and everything. Annoyingly the new timetable didn't go live until Monday 10th, so off to the pool whilst Ward hits the gym.

46 lengths later (which is impressive for me) we met up in the jacuzzi which was lovely and then to the sauna and steam room, where I quickly decided it was a bit too hot for me! Got to the changing rooms quickly and flailed about trying to not faint!

Apart from the flaking out it was quite a good visit, so both feeling energised and healthy we ordered a chinese takeaway. One meal to share mind, we're being good!

Thoughts from me;

  • Pool was nice and warm but quite claustrophobic.
  • Sauna too hot!
Thoughts from him;
  • Good steam room.

Quest to Conquer the Gymdom

So in a January cliche challenge me and Mr Ward are sampling the delights of all of the local gyms in the aim to get ourselves a bit fitter. Follow the saga here and log on to www.moneysavingexpert.com to find out what offers are available near you.

Part One - Esporta Health Club - 5 day free pass
Cookridge Hall Golf Club
Cookridge Ln, Cookridge, Leeds, LS16 7NL

Day One - First impressions
Driving over our first thoughts were what a fabulous location, the club is actually inside the grounds of Cookridge Golf Course. On second thoughts if we have any more serious snow fall this year, going to the gym would definitely be off the cards with the windy uphill drive.
Our sales rep was friendly and Ward drank free coffee whilst he tried to sell it to us just a bit too much, after five minutes I realised he wasn't actually talking to me at all only Ward! This was confirmed when i had to find my own way through the maze that is the ladies changing rooms!
So Ward wants to 'pump iron' in the gym whereas i intend to be 'a lady' by attending fitness classes and doing some granny style swimming. Unfortunately our rep put our visit back an hour so i missed all the classes and ended up waiting in the coffee shop whilst Ward hit the treadmill!

First impressions from me;

  • Nice pool area, perhaps a bit on the small side.
  • Maze like changing rooms, could have done with a female colleague to show me around.
  • Lovely building, surroundings and refreshment area.
  • Wide range of classes available although i may struggle to fit them around work.
and from him;
  • Not too nice inside the gym a bit tatty around the edges.
